Deep cleaning mattress yachts

Deep cleaning of the mattress eliminates dust mites, dust mite excrement, skin flakes, bacteria and spores of fungi. Allergens and fungi build up in a moist and damp environment with limited ventilation, such as the environment found in the shipping industry.
It is a dry mattress cleaning that helps prevent allergic reactions to the respiratory tract. The UV-C lamp kill dust mites, excrement, fungi and bacteria.
To ensure that the dust mites disappear, we treat both sides of the mattress.

  • The powerful, specially designed and mobile mattress cleaning system generates high frequency vibrations. With these high-frequency vibrations, the dust and dirt particles and excrement are pulverized in the mattress. This releases all contamination, such as dust mite excrement, skin flakes and urine crystals.
  • The industrial vacuum cleaner system is placed on the mattress, after which it collects all particles in a filter. This filter is designed to retain 99.97% of all contaminants larger than 0.3 microns.
  • UV-C cleaning. In this phase, the mattress is placed under UV light, which kills dust mites, bacteria and spores. This sterilization is carried out without chemicals.
  • Your mattress is treated with an anti-dust mite spray. The spray combats odors, neutralizes the faeces with allergens that dust mites leave behind and can be used on new stains. The dust mite stays away longer after this treatment.

Mattress cleaning wet method

With the wet cleaning of mattresses we remove stains, discolorations, mold and unwanted and musty odors. The mattress is first treated with a biological cleaning (non hazardous) agent especially for mattresses. We then spray hot water into the mattress with professional cleaning equipment, which immediately sucks up and drains the injected water together with the dirt. With this method, the mattress will need some drying time. We therefore advise when it comes to multiple mattresses to carry out this treatment in our warehouse which also houses industrial drying facilities. We dry the mattresses in our warehouse with special air blowers. In that case we will collect the mattresses and return the mattresses sealed. This means that maintenance work on your yacht can continue unhindered.

Dust mites and allergies during mattress cleaning

Mattresses are the ideal environment for dust mites. Dust mites are tiny creatures that are part of the arachnids. They thrive at a temperature of more than 20 ° C with a relative humidity of 60-80%. These conditions can be found almost exclusively in the mattress on which you sleep every night. Flakes of bacteria from your dry skin provide dust mites with a source of food. Their propagation speed is very high. That is why UCC Services offers mattress cleaning for yachts.
Up to 2,500 dust mites have been counted in one gram of dust. That means that each double mattress contains up to two million dust mites! Each dust mite produces about 20 droppings per day. These contain allergens in the form of protease enzymes. They can attack the protective membrane in the nose, throat and lungs, causing irritation which manifests itself in an allergic reaction. When moved in bed, the allergens fly through the air and can be easily inhaled. This stimulates the body's immune system, causing asthma and rhinitis symptoms.

Removing stains during mattress cleaning?

Yes and no. With our deep cleaning method and the dry cleaning method, we do not remove stains from mattresses during mattress cleaning. However, we have special stain and urine remover which we apply straight after cleaning. We do remove almost all stains with the wet mattress cleaning method. The results are very dependent on the type of stain, how old the stain is and more. The pH value also plays a role (change in color of the fibers due to perspiration or urine). Therefore, we cannot guarantee that stains can be removed in 100% of cases.
